Well I'm back from Whistler, and Park City. I did get my new board and bindings in time for both trips and I can say that I am very happy with both.
Park City and The Canyons were both awesome places to ride last week. I rode on Thursday-Sunday last week, yup the very days that mother nature was dumping on Park City. The bowls at the top of Mc Conkey's and Jupiter lifts were quite exceptional on Friday!
My Donek board and Catek bindings performed great. This is a really great setup I must say. The Catek bindings took a little bit of tweaking as I had some problems with keeping everything tight. A little bit of removable lock-tite and everything was fixed.
Another update on my stupid Vans Contra Boots with BOA enclosures. I had a problem where once I put the boots on and tightened the enclosure I couldn't get the system to loosen up, on one boot, at the end of the day! I had to cut the stupid cable, and run around looking for a Vans dealer that could replace the mechanism. I love the enclosure but it's a ridiculously unreliable mechanism. Right now, all I can say is that it's a love hate situation. I guess if I had enough spare parts that I could carry around on my own I would be fine, but having to go through the panic of locating a dealer or risk not riding on a trip is quite traumatic! And I have had to do this twice out of my last 4 trips! That's not a good record.
I also came down with a nasty cough the week I was at Park City, but I managed to get 3 good days of riding in, and one cruiser day.
Overall both trips were great with the Park City trip being my highlight of the season, so far...
